Arcom Sailing Team finishes 1st in DEI Cup 2010

Every year the National Power Company Cup (D.E.I. Cup) together with the Winter Cup of Yacht Club of Greece in November signal the sailing seasons' end.

D.E.I. Cup is a 20 mile race along the South Coast of Athens, starting from Flisvos Marina to the picturesque Vouliagmeni Bay, rounding the wild Cassidi Rock and back.

This year 65 boats gathered for a challenging race with Northern winds gusting up to 28 knots. After a great start the Arcom sponsored boat Silver Surfer reached 16 knots boat speed with the spinnaker, gaining an amazing advantage right from the first race leg.

After rounding Cassidi Rock among 6-foot high breaking waves starting the second race leg on our way back, we passed through the rest of the fleet, passing all boats still on the first race leg. With good tactics and optimal boat speed we managed to cross the finish line and get the first place in IRC class.

Arcom Sailing Team finishes 2nd in "Kalithea Triangle Race 2010"

The annual two-Olympic-Triangle-regatta of Kalithea Yacht Club in Athens was scheduled for Saturday 16/10/2010.

25 fast yachts gathered in order to race under sunny sky , but with poor wind conditions.

After two hours of waiting for the wind to reach the wind-limit for the regatta start, a shifty 10-knot thermic south wind showed up, allowing the race comitee to set the Olympic Triangle course.

"Silver Surfer" , the Melges24 sponsored and owned by Arcom Telecoms, managed to have a great start and rounded the windward mark second, behind a Melges32 and followed by a X-35. Huge windshifts were predicted correctly by our tactician and helped Arcom Sailing Team maintain their position to the finish line.

Next scheduled regatta is on Saturday, November 13.
